Job Description

We're building Ripple's data services group and are looking for several talented Senior and Staff DevOps Engineers that will build scalable data infrastructure to enable ML and analytics company-wide.

As a Senior or Staff DevOps Engineer on our data platform team, you will be responsible for the design, deployment, and continuous monitoring of data-intensive applications.

Your work will enable the developer experience for data engineers and data scientists. This person will bring a software engineering approach to infrastructure which will positive impact our culture of ownership, reliability, trust, and observability.

The Opportunity:

  • Architect, deploy, and maintain Ripple’s multi-region, multi-provider service platforms – emphasizing security and resiliency
  • Develop and maintain services to support our data-driven analytics framework
  • Design and build automation, monitoring, and instrumentation tools to reduce operational friction
  • Solve unique technical challenges like secret management, geographic failover, data replication, and platform resiliency
  • Create and automate lifecycle services—leveraging data to converge on declared states with minimal human interaction
  • Collaborate with data engineering to ensure production-ready code; work closely with developers and scientists
  • Research promising new tools and technologies
  • Encourage team to experiment and evolve
  • Help in the adoption of DevOps-first principles through team and the organization

Responsibilities

  • Manage critical data platform services for the data lifecycle, including ingestion, transformation, management, delivery, and analytics. 
  • Build tools and libraries that ease new pipeline development and reduce delivery time.
  • Work towards increasing the robustness and fault tolerance on the platform processing large amounts of data.
  • Implement best practices and design patterns for different data solutions. 
  • Define tools and techniques to improve overall data observability and discoverability.
  • Troubleshoot and remediate issues with the data platform services and data pipelines.
  • Collaborate on cross-team Data Platform initiatives. 
  • Track and execute continuous improvements.
  • Required

  • Experience with blockchain technologies.
  • Experience with data warehouse/data lake platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, Redshift, or BigQuery.
  • Experience with database technologies such as Redis, Kafka, MongoDB, PostgresSQL, and MySQL.
  • Experience with data engineering tools such as airflow, dbt, etc. 
  • Familiarity working with data observability and data governance. 
  • Programming experience in Bash, Python, Golang, C++, or Java and in data query and manipulation with SQL. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in ENGLISH and CHINESE.
  • Preferred

  • Experience with graph databases. 
  • Experience with data science tools and platforms such as Jupiter notebooks, Databricks, SageMaker, and Tensorflow. 
  • Understanding of Linux. 
  • Familiarity working with open source software community. 
  • Proclivity for automation and DevOps practices and tools such as Git and Terraform.
